GEOPED project launch
The GEOPED project (Geometric Evolutionary Optimisation for Product and Engineering Design) will start in October 2015 and run for 3 years. The project is one of several funded initiatives to broaden the scope of the EvoShape technology to include intelligent optimisation, and support elements of Engineering Design, while remaining loyal to its roots in styling and industrial design.
The outcome will be a smart, efficient, and co-operative human-machine system, supporting a departure from highly-specialised automated optimisation software, and the heavily front-loaded "design-then-optimise" approach.
When the project gets underway, expect regular updates. But until then, enjoy the summer!
Enlightening Student Project
EvoShape has been used by talented Product Design Engineering student Katheryn Fletcher to co-design a stunning lighting piece with her Mum! The one year long project also involved experiments with 40 first year students developing concepts for fruit bowls and ceiling lights.Over half found EvoShape enabled them to create more and better concepts in 25 minutes than when they just used traditional CAD and sketching.
